   What is a School Counselor?

A School Counselor is a certified professional who is trained at the graduate level in    counseling and consulting practices and has in depth knowledge of human    development, helping relationships, social/cultural foundations, group processes,    testing and assessment, career development, and the school setting. The mission of    the school counselor in the Wake County Public School System is to provide a    comprehensive continuum of support services that positively impact the personal,    academic, and career development of the whole child within the school, family, and    community.

   Confidentiality in School Counseling

School counselors have a high duty of confidentiality to students and parents. I may    repeat information told to me by student and/or parents only if a danger to self or    others exists or if I have permission from the student or family members to repeat    information.
